SIS Training on Ethical Hacking

The skill training session on "Ethical Hacking" was conducted from 03.07.2023 to 08.07.2023. The objective of the training was to provide students with hands-on experience in ethical hacking techniques and tools. The training agenda was divided into two sessions: the morning session focused on the installation of VMware, while the afternoon session covered the installation of Kali Linux and its commands.

During the forenoon session, the topic Installation of VMware was taught to students. The Resource Person explained the importance of virtualization technology in ethical hacking and its role in creating a safe environment for conducting security testing. Participants were guided through the step-by-step installation process, including the setup of virtual machines and configuring network settings. During the session, students were provided with pre-prepared installation packages for VMware, and the trainer demonstrated the installation procedure on a screen. They were encouraged to ask questions and actively engage in the process. By the end of the morning session, all students successfully installed VMware and gained a basic understanding of its features and functionalities.

In the afternoon session, the trainer introduced the concept of Kali Linux and discussed its various tools and applications in ethical hacking. Students were guided through the installation process of Kali Linux, using either a virtual machine or a dual-boot setup, based on their preference and system compatibility. The Lab in Charge explained the importance of choosing the appropriate installation method and addressed concerns or queries raised by the students. The trainer provided an overview of essential commands and demonstrated their practical usage.
