On 27.07.2023 an expert talk on " Startup Opportunities for Electrical Engineers" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electrical and electronics Engineering. The session was handled by Mr.N.Subramanian, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 02.00 PM - 04.00 PM. 42 students and 3 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha AP/EEE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, EDC Coordinator, Francis Xavier Engineering College. She explained the motto of IIC and the theme of IIC. She said entrepreneurship, startup, innovation and Intellectual Property rights were the themes of IIC.
The guest speaker Mr.N.Subramanian explained the concept of Startup and why the engineering students must opt for developing startup as their career option. He then described the enabling environment created by the government to develop startup and the funding support available to the startup founders. While explaining the startup opportunities he requested the participants about the Market gaps, Innovative product Development, financial Management, Building a strong Team, Scaling and growth Strategies. While explain the concept and the strategies to be adopted while developing the startup he gave number of examples from the Indian Startups. He also explained about E-Waste management, E-waste recycling, developing innovative methods & Technologies for processing new form of E-Waste. He gave tips for better team work. The participants interacted with the guest speaker and gathered lot of information about startups.
