Additive manufacturing uses data computer-aided-design (CAD) software or 3D object scanners to direct hardware to deposit material, layer upon layer, in precise geometric shapes. As its name implies, additive manufacturing adds material to create an object. By contrast, when you create an object by traditional means, it is often necessary to remove material through milling, machining, carving, shaping or other means. Although the terms "3D printing" and "rapid prototyping" are casually used to discuss additive manufacturing, each process is actually a subset of additive manufacturing. While additive manufacturing seems new to many, it has actually been around for several decades. In the right applications, additive manufacturing delivers a perfect trifecta of improved performance, complex geometries and simplified fabrication. As a result, opportunities abound for those who actively embrace additive manufacturing and has greater opportunities in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Students from Pre final Mech Engineering and Civil Engineering participated in the connect

Mr. George Koshi, Chair SICCI Employability Taskforce acted as moderator of the event. In the panel they have discussed about the Entrepreneurial challenges in the field of 3D Printing, Health care usability, Economic growth in Additive manufacturing, Purpose of Ideation Production and Manufacturing.

Mr. Iraimudi V, Head – Healthcare, Shree Rapid Technologies, Mr. Babu Ramachandran, Founder Director, Arthya Consulting, Mr. Srikanth, Director, Metamorph Additive Manufacturing were the speakers of the Conclave. Each resource person shared their knowledge about the 3D Printing technologies. The students able to understand the industrial evolution for the past two decades, new paradigm shift based on Additive manufacturing, Virtual medical assistance, Affordable for prototyping and chemical components. At the End Ms. Abinaya Sangeetha, Final year MCA raised questions on behalf of all the students. Feedback obtained from the students and they found it very beneficial for their carrier.
