On 08.11.2023 a guest lecture on “The Art of Launching: Making Startup Dream into Reality” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the Management Studies department and IIC. The resource person was Mr.M.Anatha Krishnan, Directing Manager of Thoppil Sons Groups, Tenkasi. The session was coordinated by Dr.V.M.Sangeetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Vannarpettai from 09.30 AM- 12.30PM. 50 students and one faculty member participated.

The resource person started the session with a short introduction of Start up idea . He continued the session by posting question, “How many of you are interested to become entrepreneurs?” Nearly 10 students raised their hands and explained their interest. Then he asked remaining students to explain their career goals and the reason for not opting entrepreneurial career. Students gave few reasons such as fear of risk, financial problem, problems in investment and so on.

He explained the funding opportunities for entrepreneurship, especially for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) provided by the Government. Initiatives like Start up India Initiative, eBiz portal, Software Technology Park were some of the Indian government schemes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among the youth and other eligible individuals.

He shared his personal entrepreneurial experiences faced during his initial stage and how to overcome those challenges. He motivated the students to convert the opportunity into startup. He also shared how he converted his business idea into startup. He also presented few companies success stories and their struggle in the initial stages. Then he addressed the students who have business ideas and the efforts taken by them to emerge as an entrepreneur. He then continued his session by presenting the challenges of food industry and how he is overcoming those challenges. Students posted few questions regarding the opportunities in food industry in Sourthern part of Tamilnadu.
