On 28.10.2022 a seminar was organized on “The role of entrepreneurs in society” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Civil Engineering. The Session was handled by Mrs. R. Swetha, Assistant Professor, department of Civil, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 09.30 - 12.30 PM. The students from final year Civil and faculties of Civil department participated. The program was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, EDC coordinator, Assistant Professor/ Civil, Francis Xavier Engineering College.

The speaker explained the role of an entrepreneurs and the social responsibilities of any business establishment. She said that the entrepreneur is providing jobs to others and manufactures or provides service which satisfies the need of the people. Being the entrepreneur, he must have the qualities of innovative thinking, risk bearing, creative decision, managerial skills and leadership to perform better and to become a successful business man/woman. She speaker said that while offering a product or service to the people the entrepreneur must do the gap filling function and being the economic activity, he must produce result. She also mentioned that entrepreneurs reduce the accumulation of wealth at one place and bridge the economic imbalance and encourage the regional growth of economic activities. Moreover, the resource person said that the entrepreneurs are contributing to the growth of GDP and provide revenue to the government which helps the government to do the welfare activities to the people. She ended the session with a quote “If opportunity doesn’t knock build a door”. Students actively participated in the interactions and gathered more information about entrepreneurship from the resource person. 45 students and 2 faculties attended the session.
