Workshop on Design Thinking

On the 31st May 2023, a workshop titled "Design Thinking: A Step towards solving a problem " was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of IT under the activity code ACT/22-23/01558. The session was handled by Dr.T.C Subbu Lakshmi, ASP/IT, FXEC. The students from I year IT and faculty members of the IT department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Ms. R. Shirly Myrtle, AP/IT from 2.00 – 4.00 P.M. The workshop aimed to provide insight into the practical aspects of solving a problem and the challenges associated with it. The Resource Person Dr. T.C Subbu Lakshmi started her talk by introducing the concept of problem solving. There are different models and approaches to problem-solving, but one common framework is the rational approach. She listed out the various steps involved in solving problems in this model includes Identifying that there is a problem, Defining the goals you hope to achieve, Exploring potential solutions, Choosing a solution and acting on it, Looking at (or evaluating) the outcome, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. The Resource person concluded the session by explaining design thinking which is a flexible and adaptable approach that can be applied to any domain or industry and further added that it can help you solve complex and ill-defined problems in a human-centric way. The program came to an end with a feedback session by students and faculty members.
