Workshop on Developing Innovative Products

On 28th February, 2023 Entrepreneurship Development Cell & Institution’s Innovation Council in association with the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a “Workshop on Developing Innovative Products” from 09:00 am to 04.00 pm. Mr.J.Jeremy Jeba Samuel, AP/Mech, Hackathon Applied Lab Incharge, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli was the resource person. Dr.R.K.A.Bhalaji, AP/Mech coordinated the program.

The resource person explained the meaning of innovation with the help of different examples from the real industrial experience. He also presented the process of innovation and gave examples from the products developed from the industrial incubation centres. The resource person asked the participants to list few manual operations for the production of some product and asked the participants to convert the process into mechanical operation using some mechanical force. Few participants gave interesting examples for the conversion of manual methods to mechanical operation. The participants were asked to design the components/ device which can be used for the conversion of manual operation to mechanical. The participants were allowed to design the innovative products identified by them such as SCARA robots, pneumatic and hydraulic based robots. The resource person said that now days the robos are replacing the manual operations in most of the industries so by learning the same the participants can involve in the product development. The entire day went on well and the participants gained lot of information and inputs from the resource person. The interaction helped them to think out of box.
