On 25h October 2024, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with Department of Civil Engineering organized “Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity”. The resource person for the program was Mr.Sam Appadurai, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli. 41 civil engineering students and 1 faculty attended the program. The session was coordinated by Mrs. P. Raja Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of civil engineering, FXEC.

The resource person began the workshop by explaining the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation, emphasizing their importance in the modern world. He discussed how innovation drives growth and how entrepreneurship can create new career opportunities. He highlighted key skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and risk-taking that are essential for aspiring entrepreneurs. The session also covered practical advice on how students can nurture an entrepreneurial mindset. Also, he shared examples of successful entrepreneurs and innovators who have disrupted industries with their innovative solutions. He encouraged students to adopt a proactive attitude, take calculated risks, and remain adaptable in the face of challenges.

Additionally, the resource person touched on the significance of networking, leveraging technology, and understanding the market dynamics in entrepreneurship. He emphasized the need for continuous learning, self-development, and finding mentors who can guide young entrepreneurs in their journey. The importance of building a personal brand and professional reputation were also discussed, as these factors can contribute significantly to long-term success. The workshop was well-attended by civil engineering students, with active participation throughout the session. The program concluded with a Question-and-Answer session where students sought guidance on their career paths and entrepreneurial aspirations. The interactive session allowed students to address their doubts and gain clarity on various aspects of entrepreneurship and innovation.
