On 23.01.2023 a Workshop on “Entrepreneurship Skills Attitude and Behaviour Development” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of MBA. The session was handled by Mr.V.Benni Livingston, TAX Manager – Athen group, Nagercoil. 55 students from first year MBA and 1 faculty member of MBA department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mr. P. Selvakumar, EDC Coordinator, Assistant professor - MBA, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 10.00AM - 03.20 PM.

The guest speaker explained the meaning of entrepreneurship, importance of entrepreneurship and its contribution to the economic development of a nation. He then highlighted the entrepreneurial skills required to excel in the entrepreneurial venture. He also mentioned few important skills like communication skills, decision making skills, selling skills and strategic skills which are important to make his venture a successful one. Moreover, the entrepreneur needs to possess the right attitude and behaviour to deal with the regular activities in his venture and the manage all the activities including the human beings serving in the organisation. The speaker also threw few examples to explain how important the attitude and behaviour of a person for the entrepreneurial venture. The students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the session. Student’s showed keen interest in entrepreneurial activities as many of them have objective of having their own start-ups in future. The workshop was highly interactive.

First Half of the session the speaker highlighted some of the key characteristics of an entrepreneur, which are:

  • Empathy is instilled through entrepreneurial ideals and related “ways of thinking, doing, feeling, seeing, communicating, organizing, and learning things.”
  • Development of strategic thinking and scenario planning skills, as well as the ability to make intuitive decisions based on little knowledge.
  • Stimulating a variety of entrepreneurial behaviours such as seeking for and seizing opportunities, networking, taking initiative, convincing others, and making intuitive decisions.

During the Second half of the day the speaker highlighted many success stories of entrepreneurs and their achievements.

  • Challenges of 1st Gen.Entreprenuer.
  • Goal Setting.
  • Women Entrepreneur

He demonstrated various business ventures which stood up in “Start-up India”.

  • Business Life Cycle.
  • Validation of Business Ideas.
  • Market Research.

This workshop helped students in gaining knowledge about crucial entrepreneurial skills which would help them to develop their skills, competencies and behaviour to successfully select and start their own entrepreneurial venture. Students learnt the importance of knowing self and others as a first step to develop required skills and competencies which are essential for being an entrepreneur.
