Workshop on “Solution to a Social Problem – A key to become an Entrepreneur”

On 23.1.2025, a Workshop on Innovation Development: “Solution to a Social Problem - A key to Become an Entrepreneur" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Information Technology. The session was handled by Dr. K. Vinukumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli, from 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM. A total of 58 Students and 2 faculty members participated. This event was coordinated by Mr. F. Richard Singh Samuel, AP/IT. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director

The session began with an introduction to the concept of creativity, its importance in addressing social challenges, and its relationship with entrepreneurship. The speaker emphasized that creativity is not limited to artistic expression but is a vital skill for identifying opportunities, solving complex problems, and driving impactful change in society. Participants explored how creativity can be harnessed to develop innovative solutions to social issues, improve community processes, and create sustainable, transformative initiatives.

The discussion highlighted that an open, flexible, and stimulating setting encourages collaboration, idea exchange, and spontaneous problem-solving. The workshop emphasized how these factors are crucial for social entrepreneurs seeking to address pressing societal problems. In conclusion, the workshop stressed that building an environment conducive to creativity and innovation is a continuous process requiring intentional effort and long-term commitment. The key takeaway was that fostering creativity involves not just enabling individuals to think outside the box but also empowering them to act on their ideas, collaborate with others, and remain resilient in the face of challenges which is one of the cornerstones of successful social entrepreneurship.
