Workshop on World Environmental Day

On 7th June 2022 a seminar was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution’s Innovation Council in association with Civil Engineering Department of Francis Xavier Engineering College (Autonomous), Tirunelveli. This seminar was conducted on behalf of “World Environmental day” as a part of IICs Celebration activity. The resource person was Prof.A.Kandasamy, EDC-Coordinator, Department of Civil Engineering Francis Xavier Engineering Tirunelveli. The resource person first explained the need to protect the environment to live peacefully. He also spoke on the climatic changes and the impact of changes in the climate. He highlighted the environmental damage because of the exploitation of the natural resources and the depletion of minerals. He gave few examples for the unexpected floods, hurricanes, storms, earth quakes, landslides and melting of glaciers. He said that for all the changes that are happening in the earth are due to the exploitations of the environment.

As the program was organized for the Civil Engineering students and moreover, the resource person is from the Civil Engineering department, he explained the need to follow the Green Building Technologies like Sustainable sites, Water Efficiency, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental quality and Energy Efficiency. He inspired the students by sharing lot of information regarding waste minimization and emission reduction. He motivated the students to make use of the technology to protect our environment. Students raised few questions and they interacted with the resource person. 45 students participated in the programme.
