The workshop commenced with welcoming the gathering by Dr. P. Annapandi, Professor & Head, Department of EEE, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli narrated the objectives of the workshop and explains about the importance of IPR in recent world. Totally 40 participants of the EEE department are participated in the programme. Dr. S. Joe Patrick Gnanaraj, Associate Professor/Mechanical Engineering, Coordinator, IPR Cell, FXEC acted as a resource person. The workshop begins with the History of Intellectual Property from beginning to evolving phase. Subsequently explaining the formation of World Intellectual Property Organization and its roles and functions i.e., IPR agreement administration, IPR Practices harmonization. Further explaining the Indian scenario of Intellectual property system and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. Subsequently explaining the roles and functions of Intellectual property Office in India. Finally explaining the process of filing the Patent application, Copyright application, Trademark application, Design application and the Scheme for Facilitating Start-ups Intellectual Property Protection. The discussion session has more interactions from students and this workshop kindle the younger minds of the department. The entire workshop was coordinated by Dr. S. Murugan, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli.
